Andrea Dworkin: Femifascist of the week

Andrea Dworkin: Femifascist of the week

Bring me Han Solo!
Bring me Han Solo!

This week's Femifascist is Andrea Dworkin. The following are her quotes with color commentary by yours truly.

"Marriage as an institution developed from rape as a practice."
Good start.  Wonder why she got married twice....

"Heterosexual intercourse is the pure, formalized expression of contempt for women's bodies."
Andrea is a lesbian (eventhough she's been married twice).  I'm confused.

"Under patriarchy, every woman's son is her potential betrayer and also the inevitable rapist or exploiter of another woman,"  Gee, she would make an awesome Mom!

"Sex and murder are fused in the male consciousness, so that the one without the imminent possibility of the other is unthinkable and impossible." This is illogical!  Who would make my sandwiches?

"I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig." Something tells me she's eaten a suckling pig with an apple in it's mouth quite regularly.

"In my own life, I don't have intercourse. That is my choice."   Wonder if she told her husband this before or after the ceremony.

"Q: People think you are very hostile to men. A: I am." -- Andrea Dworkin.
Well, I'm glad that's settled.  I was sitting on the fence till now...

"Marriage . . . is a legal license to rape."
Uhm, not according to the law.

"The hurting of women is . . . basic to the sexual pleasure of men."
Keep in mind that Andrea was a prostitute before she wrote her 10 books for feminists.

"...[W]omen and men are distinct species or races ... men are biologically inferior to women; male violence is a biological inevitability; to eliminate it, one must eliminate the species/race itself... in eliminating the biologically inferior species/race Man, the new Ubermensch Womon (prophetically foreshadowed by the lesbian separatist herself) will have the earthly dominion that is her true biological destiny. We are left to infer that the society of her creation will be good because she is good, biologically good. In the interim, incipient Super Womon will not do anything to 'encourage' women to 'collaborate' with men--no abortion clinics or battered woman sanctuaries will come from her. After all, she has to conserve her 'energy' which must not be dissipated keeping 'weaker' women alive through reform measures. The audience applauded the passages on female superiority/male inferiority enthusiastically. This doctrine seemed to be music to their ears." -- from a panel on "Lesbianism as a Personal Politic" that met in New York City, Lesbian Pride Week 1977; Andrea Dworkin, Letters from a War Zone, - Take Back The Day - Biological Superiority: The World's Most Dangerous and Deadly Idea (1977), (Dutton Publishing, 1989) p.146 "Heterosexual intercourse is the pure, formalized expression of contempt for women's bodies."
Wow.  Just wow.  Borrowed a page from Hitler's holocaust, minus all those pesky men.

"As I see it, our revolutionary task is to destroy phallic identity in men and masochistic non-identity in women--that is, to destroy the polar realities of men and women as we now know them so that this division of human flesh into two camps--one an armed camp and the other a concentration camp--is no longer possible. Phallic identity is real and it must be destroyed. Female masochism is real and it must be destroyed."
Cool, a utopian society in which everyone has butch haircuts and is called Pat.

"Only when manhood is dead--and it will perish when ravaged femininity no longer sustains it--only then will we know what it is to be free."
So according to this, society is sustained by women? Last time I looked, most farmers were men, most miners were men, most power plant workers were men,  most engineers are men, most people working in transportation were men, and most of the dirty/dangerous jobs are done by....  men.

"...the prisons for women are our homes. We live under martial law. We live in places in which a rape culture exists. That is a women's home, where she lives. Men have to be sent to prison, to live in a culture that is as rapist as the normal home in North America. We live under what amounts to a military curfew. Enforced by rapists. And we say usually that we're free citizens in a free society. We lie. We lie, we lie everyday about it... We live in a police state where every man is deputized. . . . In the United States, violence against women is a major pastime. It is a sport. It is an amusement. It is a mainstream cultural entertainment. And it is real. It is pervasive. It is epidemic. It saturates the society. It's very hard to make anyone notice it, because there is so much of it." -- Andrea Dworkin, Terror, Torture and Resistance, Keynote Speech at the Canadian Mental Health Association's "Women in a Violent Society," Banff, Albert, May 9, 1991, (First published in Canadian Studies/Les Cahiers de la Femme, Vol. 12, No.1, Fall 1991)
Holy F***.  I don't know where to begin.  The most recent stats I have seen is that in married households, women make 80% of the financial decisions.  Ask any married man out for a beer, and chances are he'll have to clear it with the wife.  If it's anyone who is in 'prison' in their homes these days it's men. Violence against women as a sport?  WTF?  I must of totally missed all the sports betting and the Violence against women collector cards?  Say does anyone have card #152 from 1991 for Manny Hernandez?  I need that one for the complete set!  He had a great season that year, and an ERA (Earned Rape Average) of 1.50, and a BA (Beating Average) of 319 !

"The annihilation of a woman's personality, individuality, will, character, is prerequisite to male sexuality."   Okay, then.

"Rape is the primary heterosexual model for sexual relating. Rape is the primary emblem of romantic love. Rape is the means by which a woman is initiated into her womanhood as it is defined by men." "Under patriarchy, every woman is a victim, past, present and future. Under patriarchy, every woman's daughter is a victim, past, present and future. Under patriarchy, every woman's son is her potential betrayer and also the inevitable rapist or exploiter of another woman." -- Andrea Dworkin, Liberty, p.58   I sense a big business opportunity for a new line of Valentine's Day cards!  "I Choo Choo Choose you as my rape victim!"

"Men use the night to erase us." -- Andrea Dworkin
Sadly, dear Andrea passed away on April 9, 2005 (aged 58). Perhaps she got erased?

That'll do pig. That'll do.
That'll do pig. That'll do.
